The idea for "ja-da" pouches originated from an individual named Andrew who worked for a petroleum company in the Gulf of Mexico. His time "on" found him routinely working 12-14 hour days in a demanding high stress environment. His coworkers couldn't believe he wasn't a coffee or tea drinker.
Little did they know, he had discovered that by sucking a roasted coffee bean, he could enjoy the taste and get just enough caffeine "kick" to get through the day. The drawback was the eventual breakdown of the coffee bean and having to spit or ingest the bean shards.
He knew there had to be a better alternative, and the idea for the coffee "ja-da pouch" was born. Andrew started with teabags. He cut the teabag paper for pouch material, hand-stitched the edges and filled the pouch with coffee grounds.
He then introduced the product to his friend, Dan, a coffee junkie. Dan was amazed at the simplicity of the pouch, but more importantly, was blown away by the flavor intensity.
They saw the potential for the development of this coffee product and, both being entrepreneurial spirits, decided to pursue coffee ja-da pouches for the public market.
One day, while further discussing development of the coffee pouch, Dan suggested they try teas within the pouch. The development of a product line of flavors was born.
Like a piece of gum, the pouch is small enough in your mouth that no one will know it's there unless you show them. The pouch allows you to enjoy the taste of fine teas and roasted coffee still achieving the caffeine kick without the need for drinking the hot liquid.
